Dr. Jan Hrušák is a senior research fellow and scientific advisor at the Czech Academy of Sciences. After received PhD (Dr.rer.nat) in Germany and, before joining the J. Heyrovsky Institute of the Czech Academy of Sciences where he is working since 1995, he was scientifically active in France, Germany, and Japan. Dr. Hrušák is experienced in EU science policy issues and has experience in national and EU-funded research projects, both, as evaluator and beneficiary. He is also acting as an expert evaluator for the World Bank and has been engaged in evaluations of several national research systems. Dr.Hrušák developed a deep understanding of European Science and cohesion policy. He served two terms in the executive body of the Czech Academy of Sciences and has been appointed for two years Director-General for research at the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport of the Czech Republic (MEYS). He is a longstanding ESFRI member (currently chair) and the Czech delegate to ERAC. He was acting as a member/expert of the EOSC executive board, and he is engaged in the preparation of the national open science policies. Dr. Hrušák is currently holding the position of Special envoy for research infrastructures at the Ministry.
