Environmental Scientist, Agroecology Technical Officer
Dr José Manuel Ávila is an Environmental Scientist who specialises in Biodiversity and Conservation Biology and has a PhD in Environment and Society. He has more than ten years of experience in R&D projects across different sectors (research centre, academia and industry). At the beginning of his career, he worked on the effect of the invasive species Phytophthora cinnamomi and climate change on agroforest systems. After this experience, he worked as coordinator and manager of EU R&D projects on the application of ICT to address societal and environmental challenges. Currently, he works as Agroecology Technical Officer in LifeWatch ERIC. He assists on R&D projects regarding agroecology topics, intending to contribute to the transition towards agroecology throughout Europe
