Professor Abiodun Ogundeji is an astute and versatile Applied Economist. He is also a
National Research Foundation (NRF) South Africa rated researcher. He obtained his PhD in Agricultural Economics from the University of the Free State (UFS), Bloemfontein, South Africa. He is currently the Academic Head of Department (Director) at the Disaster Management Training and Education Centre for Africa (DiMTEC) at UFS. disasters. Before Joining DiMTEC, he was an Associate Professor in the
Department of Agricultural Economics, presenting classes and supervising master’s, PhD, and postdoctoral candidates.
As a researcher, he works with international and local organizations as a project leader and principal investigator. He was a research fellow at the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) social protection department. He has published over 60 articles in peer-reviewed journals, and made several conference presentations.
Prof Ogundeji's current research focuses on projects aimed at assisting farmers and other stakeholders in adapting to extreme climate events, thereby ensuring food security and sustainable food production. He is also involved in the development of scenarios for future agricultural water use in South Africa. Prof Ogundeji has strong economic research and analytical skills and a strong pedigree in econometrics, development, and environmental economics. He has received awards for his research efforts at both national and international conferences.
