Amel Sami’s research focus is the microbiome and dentistry particularly related to the Sudanese population. She holds a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (honours) degree from University College Cork (National University of Ireland). In 2012, she completed her MSc in Oral Medicine from the Eastman Dental Institute, UK. Amel received a fellowship from the American Academy of Oral Medicine in 2016 to undertake research in Sudan in the fields of Leishmaniasis (and other infections). She is currently completing the final year of her PhD at the Irish Agriculture and Food Development Authority (Teagasc).
