Yassamina Meddi is a geologist researcher Assistant Professor from 2013 at the University of Sciences and Technology Houari Boumediene USTHB, Algiers, focusing on magmatic petrology and geochemistry.  Preparing a Es-Sciences doctoral thesis in volcanic activity in Algeria’s coastal areas in the western Mediterranean.  

Yassamina was a geologist engineer for 5 years in a private company in mining industries. Early-stage researcher in a Maghreb EU Research Staff Exchange for 4 years (MEDYNA - FP7-IRSES Marie Curie Action) and full member of the Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World (OWSD) .

Yassamina is interested in the role of sciences and education in all the challenges that the world is facing as the SDG’s goals, natural hazards management and the role of natural sciences in providing awareness to large populations. She is part of MiXtura- an NGO that combines interdisciplinary sciences, local knowledge and Arts to promote sustainable development.
