Steve Peedell leads the Biodiversity and Protected Areas Management Programme at the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre (JRC). He is a geographer, with a specialisation in geospatial information technology and natural resources management. For the last 25 years, he has been working on a range of GIS applications in support of EU policy, covering agriculture, earth observation, transportation, biodiversity, water and protected areas. Since 2009 his focus has been on the international dimension of EU partnerships, especially in Africa, and now leads the JRC Africa portfolio, which includes the development of an Africa Knowledge Platform which links JRC outputs to SDGs and with a strong focus on the domain of the natural resource.
